Hello Indie Game Fan Reader!

Something a little different this week.

I came across this quote/clip on Monday and have been thinking about it ever since.

“I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.”

A lot of life is about perspective, so a little intentional gratitude practice once in awhile can really help.

It's the small things in life that, well, make up your life so it's good to take a moment to really cherish that, whether you're working ona group project in high school, grinding out a late night study session in university, working over the weekend with your colleague or (parents will know) dealing with a kid who's throwing tantrums, there's light at the end of the tunnel, sunshine after the rain.

And it doesn't even have to be a bad or challenging scenario that you are currently facing! It's the little things like how cute your toddler is, that your parents are still healthy enough to go on a holiday, how you can walk with no pain, how you (willing) put in the extra hours on your side hustle, it all matters and is worth mulling on.

Transport your mind forward in time to when you're 30, or 40, or 80, then think back to this current moment and go, "Ah... Those were the good old days".

Hope this helps!

Upcoming Games of 2026

Indie games of interest

  1. Dinolords - Play as a Lord which you directly control with WASD, gathering, building and attacking in the thick of the action, while also commanding an army of Vikings riding dinosaurs in this RTS! Playtest sign-ups are open.
  2. Enter the kOS - A pretty cool looking fake OS game, where you can take a button off one window to use its function in another, or flip a window over to work on its back. Seems clever
  3. Akatori - This LONG in development Metroidvania finally has a release date of 5th August.
  4. Forgotten Station - A knowledge based narrative game where you are stuck in a time loop and can only travel on trains, so fans of Outer Wilds, take note!
  5. Veil of Ashes - A Steampunk RTS where the terrain permanently wrecks itself as you fight, and destroyed vehicles can provide cover for infantry.
  6. Chop Chop Inc. - The next big title in the "digging a hole" sub-genre of incremental game
  7. Smoky Sails - A short pirate naval combat title from the developer of Omno
  8. Wreckreation 2 - This looks like the spiritual successor to the Burnout series of racing games.
  9. Poinpy - A Netflix exclusive mobile game from the developer of Downwell was delisted, and is now back and free!
